New Worlds, Connected Characters

New Worlds, Connected Characters is a cinematic experiment about two ideas meeting: entirely new worlds conjured with generative AI, and real, recognisable characters connected to them. The lone figure crossing this storm-lit headland is a digital double of me — my own 3D head scan, reimagined as a character — dropped into a world that never existed until it was generated.

Outcomes

  • A real character connected from a 3D head scan
  • A fully AI-generated cinematic world
  • Storytelling at the edge of scanning + AI

01 · Challenge

Can one person build a world and step inside it?

Cinematic worlds and believable characters have always been the domain of studios — months of modelling, rendering and pipelines. I wanted to know how far a single creator could get with today's generative tools.

The harder question wasn't the world; it was the character. Generated people feel anonymous. I wanted someone real — recognisable — connected to the world rather than dropped into it.

02 · Concept

New worlds, connected characters.

Two halves, deliberately. Generative AI conjures the world — weather, light, terrain that never existed. And a real person, captured as a 3D head scan, becomes the character who belongs there.

That pairing is the whole idea: worlds with no limit, anchored by characters with real identity.

03 · Process & Craft

From a head scan to a hero shot.

It starts with a 3D scan of my own head, reimagined as a character and given a body. From there, generative environment and AI video tools build the world around the figure, shot by shot, until it reads as a single cinematic moment.

Most of the work is taste — directing the tools, choosing light and pacing, and editing until the character truly feels present in the world rather than pasted onto it.

04 · Outcome

A glimpse of what's now possible solo.

The result is this short cinematic piece — proof that a believable world and a real, connected character are within reach of one person and a laptop. It's the opening note of an ongoing exploration.

05 · Reflection

Everyone, the hero of their own world.

If anyone can be scanned and connected into any world, the implications for learning and storytelling are huge — students stepping into the worlds they're studying, as themselves. That's the thread I want to keep pulling.
