Coaching
Twelve months from the classroom to work of your own.
Six one-hour sessions with Paul across a year. We set your goals, work through the skills you need and get you moving towards paid work of your own. It is the destination we aim at together, not a promise anyone could honestly make for you.
The programme
Twelve months. Six sessions. One plan that is yours.
- Duration
- 12 months
- Sessions
- 6 one-hour sessions
- Format
- One to one with Paul, online
- Cadence
- Roughly one session every two months
- Investment
- On enquiry
No obligation. If the programme is not right for you, Paul will say so.
“One session with Paul and my goals and tangible steps to accomplish these goals became instantly clear and achievable”
Who it is for
Built for the leap.
Most people who take this on are excellent at what they do and have never been shown how to turn that into work someone pays for.
Teachers who want to move into consulting, edtech or speaking
Educators sitting on an idea they have never had time to build
Anyone who wants goals, deadlines and someone to be accountable to
And who it is not for
- People who want someone to build the thing for them. That is consulting, and it is a different page.
- People chasing a certificate. There isn't one. What you get is progress you can point at.
- People with no time at all between sessions. The sessions set the direction; the work happens in the weeks after.
What we cover
Shaped around you.
We pick from these across the year rather than marching through a fixed syllabus. Every session ends with something written down and dated, so the next step is never vague.
- 01
Where do I start?
The question almost everyone arrives with. We take an honest look at what you already have: your experience, your skills, the work you have quietly been doing for years. Most teachers badly undervalue this, and naming it is the first step.
- 02
Transitioning from classroom to business
How the move actually happens, in practice and at a pace that does not require you to resign on Monday. What changes, what carries over, and how to test the water while you are still teaching.
- 03
Creativity 101
What creativity really is once you strip away the mystique: a process you can run on purpose, teach to other people, and lean on when a brief lands and the page is blank.
- 04
Tools that ignite creativity
The hands-on part. AI, AR, 3D capture, iPad and the creative tools worth your time, chosen for what they let people make rather than for the feature list.
- 05
Networking and creating a profile
Becoming findable. Showing your work in public without it feeling like self-promotion, meeting the right people, and making sure that what they see when they look you up is the work you want to be known for.
- 06
Shaping what you offer
Turning all of it into something a school or company can say yes to: a workshop, a keynote, an advisory day, a product. Vague availability does not get booked. A defined offer does.
- 07
Pricing, quoting and the business side
The part nobody teaches: what to charge, how to quote, invoicing, contracts and insurance. Unglamorous, and the reason most people stall just before their first paid job.
- 08
Momentum
Reviewing the year, looking honestly at what worked and what did not, and setting the plan for the next twelve months so the progress continues after the programme ends.
Coaching areas
Go deep in one.
Coaching can stay general, or point squarely at one of these. Say which one when you get in touch.
APLS coaching
Working towards Apple Professional Learning Specialist: what the role actually asks of you, how to build the evidence, and how to present yourself when you go for it.
Classroom edtech coaching
Choosing technology that earns its place in a classroom, then using it so it deepens the learning rather than decorating it. For individual teachers and for whole staff.
Spatial coaching
Apple Vision Pro, 3D scanning and spatial workflows, with someone who has shipped a visionOS app rather than only read about it.
Apple Developer coaching
From an idea to an app on the App Store. Swift, SwiftUI and Apple's tools, plus the parts of actually shipping that nobody warns you about.
Not the same thing
Coaching or consulting?
They are often confused, so here is the difference in plain terms. If you are not sure which you need, ask and we will tell you honestly.
Coaching
- One person: you
- Your goals, your practice, your next step
- Six one-hour sessions across twelve months
- The outcome is your own progress
Consulting
- An organisation: your school, team or company
- A project, a product or a strategy
- Scoped to the piece of work
- The outcome is a thing that ships
Questions
The things people ask.
I am still teaching full time. Is that a problem?
No, and it is the normal starting point. The whole programme is built to run alongside a teaching load, which is why it is six sessions across twelve months rather than an intensive you would have to take leave for.
Why spread six sessions across a whole year?
Because the change happens between the sessions, not in them. You need time to try something, have it not quite work, and bring that back. A run of six sessions in six weeks would feel productive and change very little.
What if I do not know what I want to offer yet?
That is where most people start, and it is what the first session is for. You almost certainly have more to work with than you think.
Do I need to be technical?
No. If you want to go deep on the Apple developer or spatial strands then some appetite for building helps, but the programme itself is about direction, confidence and the business side.
What does it cost?
See the summary above. If cost is the thing standing in the way, say so when you get in touch and Paul will be straight with you about whether it is worth it for where you are.
What if it turns out not to be for me?
Then Paul will tell you at the first conversation, before any money changes hands. He would rather send you somewhere more useful than take on someone the programme cannot help.
Ready to make the leap?
Tell Paul where you are now and where you would like to get to. He will come back to you about a place on the programme.
